2023 ALA Indaba Financial Aid Application

Financial Aid is now closed.


In line with ALA's ethos of ensuring that financial distress is not a barrier to access our core programs, we are allocating a limited pool of funds to support gap years and university students in dire financial need to cover part of their accommodation, transportation and other costs. You should only apply for our financial aid if you are truly in need of assistance to attend the event.

---READ CAREFULLY-- Before proceeding with the application, it is imperative to understand that:

1. You must be a gap year (2 years out from ALA) or a current university student.
2. The information provided in financial aid applications will be treated with utmost confidentiality and will not be shared with any unauthorized personnel.
3. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, so you are encouraged to apply as early as possible.
4. There is no guarantee that a financial aid application will be successful or that we can cover the full amount you request given the limited pool of funds to provide financial assistance to a large number of alumni.
5. Disbursements will take place after the Indaba. This means you are responsible for covering costs prior to the Indaba.
6. Financial aid disbursement is subject to full participation in the Indaba.
7. By applying for financial aid, a student gives the Alumni Engagement team consent to access any prior financial records ALA may have under your name. You will be ineligible for aid if you have outstanding payments due to finance (this is not about the Forgivable Loan).
8. If you receive and accept an offer for financial aid from ALA, the offer is binding and you may not cancel your attendance at the Indaba after Jul 31st. Should you cancel, you will be disqualified from applying for financial aid for future ALA events.
